According to a new survey funded by OppenheimerFunds, Inc., a leading asset management company and conducted by Smith College, the majority of college students are in credit card debt largely from the use of credit cards to purchase personal items including toiletries, clothing and accessories.
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. A growing number of college students are using credit cards to pay for tuition, fees, textbooks and school activities. That's according to a national survey of 700 college students conducted by the Women and Financial Independence program at Smith College in Northampton.

And, to add more bloom to the blossom, that interest is usually tax-deductible.
Student loans are a bit trickier to pass off as "OK" debt. Most education loans carry an interest rate well below 10% , preferably locked in at the low rate.
